That pesky southern border wall. A campaign promise from Donald Trump to stop the seemingly uncontrollable influx of illegals surging into America that sparked a firestorm of debate. From schoolchildren to the Pope, everyone had an opinion. The irony of the Pope’s stern lecture from his walled-off home in Vatican City was not lost on most Americans. However, it was prime propaganda for the left. The soundbite played continuously on every media outlet and was plastered over social media as if it was a direct order from God.
Yet America and Trump prevailed. As promised, the President has made the crackdown on illegal immigration a cornerstone of his first one hundred days.
Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly, released the latest numbers on illegal immigration this week. To say they look promising is a gross understatement.
In Trump’s first full month in office, illegal border crossings have dropped a whopping 40% , from 31,578 to 18,762 persons. January and February are historically months where illegal crossings increase 10 to 20% .
In an interview with Fox News, Kelly stated:
The drop in apprehensions shows a marked change in trends. Since the administration’s implementation of executive orders to enforce immigration laws, apprehensions and inadmissible activity is trending toward the lowest monthly total in at least the last five years.
In addition to building a southern border wall, Trump’s executive order calls for the addition of ten thousand Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, tripling the current number oflaw enforcement personnel as well as five thousand border patrol officers. Controversial directives, such as the catch-and-release policy which prohibited arrest and deportation for illegal border crossing has also been terminated.
Southern border detention centers are currently under construction. Add in the executive order’s deportation fast track and national security is back in fashion after decades of lackadaisical interest in stopping the swarm of immigrants illegally entered the U.S. .
The Department of Justice has joined in the fight to clear immigration court. With a backlog of 550,000 immigration cases, all-hands-on-deck are needed to grease the wheels of justice.

Judges are employed by the Justice Department to oversee cases that determine if immigrants are given protections, such as asylum, or ordered deported. A handful of judges work from detention centers but most work from courts around the country.
Two sources familiar with the Justice Department’s plan said the department would ask more judges to volunteer for one or two month deployments at detention centers. If the department cannot find enough volunteers, the department would assign judges to detention centers, the sources said.
The judges will be sent to detention centers in Adelanto, Calf., San Diego and Chicago, Reuters reported, citing a letter from the DOJ to judges.
There are an estimated 11 million illegal persons in America. The burden inflicted upon law abiding citizens has become almost unbearable. Now the president is changing the trajectory of this influx of illegals.
Of course, there are some Democratic lawmakers and activists that won’t be happy with the early successes of Trump’s illegal immigration executive order. They will undoubtedly spin the statistics and craft their own destructive narratives.
These numbers don’t lie-but the people reporting them are certain to construct their own story lines to fit leftist ideologies with half-truths or worse. . That will likely mean politics as usual, but the end result is that the American people can put their heads on their pillows at night knowing someone is finally doing something to halt a prickly problem in the U.S. that has existed for decades.
