Abortion Provider Tapped as Finalist for Top Humanitarian Award

The move is meant to send a strong message: Global values will be enforced.

An American abortion provider and advocate has made the finals for a top European humanitarian award. It’s a noteworthy development in that it speaks to a particularly strident commitment to a hardline agenda. The European Union, the overarching entity that represents and endlessly pursues the furthering of supranational governance on the Old Continent, has gone well out of its way to jarringly celebrate the act of abortion.

“Dr. Colleen McNicholas, the chief medical officer for the St. Louis branch of Planned Parenthood, is among three finalists selected from across the world for the European Union’s top human rights prize,” The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Oct. 18. “McNicholas, Justyna Wydrzyńska, of Poland, and Morena Herrera, of El Salvador, were jointly nominated as ‘women fighting for free, safe and legal abortion.’”

The award is named in honor of famed Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov. “[T]he Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought is the highest tribute paid by the European Union to human rights work,” the EU states on its website. “It gives recognition to individuals, groups and organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to protecting freedom of thought. Through the prize and its associated network the EU assists laureates, who are supported and empowered in their efforts to defend their causes.”

No Globalist ‘Sustainability’ Without Abortion

Bestowing humanitarian honors upon abortionists is a move laden with significance. It is meant to demonstrate that debate on the controversial issue, no matter how insincere it must have long felt to pro-lifers, is well and truly over. The time for acknowledging opposition has ended. As with climate change and so many other globalist aims, the “science is settled,” and abortion will be aggressively promoted throughout the world.

Too few non-activists understand just how much abortion is cherished as a central tenet of the stated globalist agenda. It has long made up a featured plank of the United Nations’ notorious Agenda 2030 for “Sustainable Development.”

Whereas Agenda 2030 is best known as an internationalist vehicle to push climate change, population control does not take a back seat. Abortion is an integral part of the larger “sustainable planet” mindset that encompasses the global warming mania. Here is how the Canadian government explains its participation:

“In September 2015, Canada and 192 other UN member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 2030 Agenda is a 15-year global framework centered on an ambitious set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 169 targets and over 230 indicators. The 2030 Agenda envisions a secure world free of poverty and hunger, with full and productive employment, access to quality education and universal health coverage, the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, and an end to environmental degradation.”

The European Union is also an enthusiastic acolyte of Agenda 2030. “Sustainable development is a core principle of the Treaty on European Union and a priority objective for the EU’s internal and external policies,” the Union declares on its website. “For a successful path towards implementing the 2030 Agenda, monitoring and reporting of the SDGs are key. The Commission commits to both regularly.”

new banner Culture Rot Banner 01Again we stress, for the globalists, there is no sustainable development without abortion. “Gender equality,” the target highlighted by Canada, is the fig leaf under which aggressive internationalist abortion policy is contained. In fact, it is listed as “Goal 5” on the official UN Agenda 2030 document. Also among Goal 5 targets is to “[e]nsure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights as agreed in accordance with the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and the Beijing Platform for Action and the outcome documents of their review conferences.”

UN Women “is the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women.” In 2020, the Heritage Foundation’s Grace Melton noted that UN Women was launching a new initiative billed as “Generation Equality.”

“Generation Equality lists ‘bodily autonomy’ and ‘sexual and reproductive health and rights’ among its demands, and further perpetuates the dangerous and insulting notions that women’s equality requires abortion rights and that women’s diverse needs can be reduced to sexual and reproductive issues,” Melton wrote.

Opposing Beliefs Will Be Bulldozed

This fully explains the internationalist blitzkrieg for abortion rights in nation upon nation across the globe. The animosity displayed to the traditional cultures of individual countries feeling the brunt of this assault is palpable. “Ireland votes to end abortion ban, in rebuke to Catholic conservatism,” reads the triumphant headline of an article from The New York Times on the country’s 2018 abortion referendum. “Ireland voted decisively to repeal one of the world’s more restrictive abortion bans, sweeping aside generations of conservative patriarchy and dealing the latest in a series of stinging rebukes to the Roman Catholic Church,” the lead sentence crowed.

This is the language of cultural conquest.

Intense internationalist pressure was put on Irish citizens in the run-up to the referendum, with big-money donors pouring cash into the small country to assure the measure passed. It is a familiar scenario.

In November 2022, Philippine leaders expressed their exasperation over UN pressure to embrace abortion. “Culturally, our values may conflict with many of the values that [Western countries] want to impose upon us. We are not ready for that, culturally we are not ready for that. That is our position right now,” Philippine Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated. “After [a United Nations Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva], Philippine Justice Undersecretary Raul Vasquez criticized pro-abortion leaders for picking on his country,” pro-life news site LifeNews observed. “These are the usual countries that always pick on the Philippines. These are the rich countries from Europe that are very, very high on individual rights and have no notion of community rights. But I think we did very well,” Vasquez said.

The “we are not ready for that” portion of Remulla’s quote is especially chilling. It reveals a resigned awareness that individual nations that oppose the international drive to impose abortion in the name of “sustainable” global development will be granted no peace until they do inevitably give way.

This is the same Big Stick approach globalists have wielded in the name of climate change. The ultimate endgame is the destruction of the sovereignty of the nation state under the guise of implementing inescapable planet-saving policies as decided by trans-national bodies. All this is driving the EU’s bizarre decision to crown abortionists as noble humanitarians on a par with Soviet dissidents. The commitment is hardcore, and it goes far beyond abortion.
