Harris Suffers Articles of Impeachment and Resolution
Vice President Kamala Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president this week, and with that came a mess of troubles. On Tuesday, July 23, House Republicans filed articles of impeachment accusing her of concealing President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. There were, of course, already articles filed regarding her inability to stem the flow of migrants into the country.
On Thursday, July 25, the House formally condemned Harris for her role as “border czar” in a resolution that passed 220-196, with six Democrats joining the Republicans in favor of the measure. House GOP Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) introduced the resolution and said in a statement:
“Biden’s open border czar Kamala Harris and every elected Democrat is responsible for this border crisis and they must all be held accountable for their role in jeopardizing our national security and turning every community into a border community. Kamala Harris failed as border czar leading to violent crimes, rapes, and murders of innocent Americans. We will hold her and Far Left Democrats accountable.”
Biden’s Border Crossing Claims Debunked
Mainstream media has voraciously reported that migrant crossings have been dropping. On Wednesday, July 24, President Biden spoke to the nation in his first appearance since taking himself out of the 2024 presidential race. During that speech, he claimed that border crossings were now the lowest than during the last days of former President Donald Trump’s reign. However, as The Washington Times pointed out, that math does not add up.
In December 2020, the last full month under Trump, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) detected 73,994 illegal migrants along the southern border. According to CBP’s latest data, in June, 130,419 unauthorized immigrants were discovered. That is quite a difference. In January 2021, when Biden and Trump shared responsibility, that number was still lower at 78,414.
The White House argued that Biden wasn’t talking about just border crossings with those numbers, he was also including ports of entry encounters. Still the math is skewed as Border Patrol apprehended 82,536 migrants in June which is still more than 71,141 in December 2020 and 75,316 in January 2021, The Times pointed out.
Andrew R. “Art” Arthur, a former immigration judge and one-time head of the national security law division at the Immigration and Naturalization Service, told The Times that the numbers are misleading because “even under that metric it would technically be correct but it would factually [be] misleading because it fails to include 1,450 aliens with no visas, no rights to enter the United States, that are being ushered by the Biden-Harris administration into the United States through ports of entry.”
In January 2021, 2,500 illegal immigrants a day were crossing the border. When you add the 1,400 migrants that Arthur mentioned to the tally, that would make the daily encounters more than 3,200. Arthur further explained that the encounters reported do not account for catch-and-release. CBP was detaining or deporting more than 95% of the 2,500 migrants apprehended each day, however, under the Biden administration, many of those caught were released.
“We don’t have a problem in New York City because 6,000 migrants are caught at the southwest border,” he said. “We have a problem in New York City because 88.5% of all of the people you’re catching are being released.”

She [is] an equal partner on all of that. She can’t run from that, she has to run on it. And we will ensure that the American people know the facts.”
