It is with great joy that, on the inaugural page of Liberty Nation, we offer the following good-bye kiss for Barack Obama. Many Americans had high hopes for Barry, but all they got were lies, damn lies and statistics (that lie).
In this requiem, we treat you to some noteworthy observations that impeach the reign of King Barry. Some are eloquent, some not so much. And we hope you’ll try your hand at one or two poignant lines of prose in a heartfelt epitaph of your own in our commentary section.
Highlights from Kurt Schlichter at Townhall:
The last two months have been hysterically funny as President Faily McWorsethancarter desperately tried to remain relevant. He’s taken leading from behind to a whole new level – he’s actually now behind behind. No one is listening to him. No one cares. While Obama wanders the halls of power, looking for people to pat him on the back, Trump is out there leading. Carrier – saved. Appointments – heading to confirmation. CNN – dissed n’ dismissed. One tweet from Trump and he resets the paradigm like a boss. Ask L.L. Bean. It’s getting hard to handle all this #winning.
So, as President Feckless packs his junk and goes away, he leaves a smoldering ruin of a party, an elite fearfully clutching at its fading power, and the potential for splitting the country in two. His legacy of failure and his contempt for normal Americans has ensured that in his place will be a president committed to ruthless conservative change and who won’t sit back and just passively suck up attacks from the cultural hacks. Donald Trump and a conservative Supreme Court are your legacy, Barack Obama. Good riddance, and welcome aboard the solar-powered high-speed rail express train to Karmatown.
From John Podhoretz & Noah C. Rothman in Commentary Magazine:
In 1723, Christopher Wren was buried in St. Paul’s, the magnificent cathedral he had rebuilt following a devastating fire in London. His epitaph concludes with the Latin phrase Si monumentum requiris, circumspice—“If his monument you seek, look around.” In 2017, Barack Obama will leave the White House after eight years during which he presided over the Democratic Party.
If you wish to see his monument, look around.
Look to your right and you will see that his designated successor lost her bid for the presidency to a man Obama himself had not only campaigned against ferociously but declared unfit to hold the nuclear codes. Look to your left and you will see the news stories detailing the possible strategies for the repeal and the replacement of the president’s signature piece of legislation, Obamacare. Then look up and down at the partisan cathedral he helped to rebuild. Its benches are, as Shakespeare said of tree branches in winter, “bare, ruined choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.” While he was the one with the nuclear codes, the Democratic Party has been hit with a neutron bomb. And on the bomb’s nose, written like the “Dear John” message on the nuke in Dr. Strangelove, were the words: “Barack Obama was here.”
The Democratic Party cathedral stands, to be sure, as structures will after a neutron-bomb attack. But it has been denuded of its priestly caste—the elected officials who were teeming within it when Barack Obama was first elected in 2008 and had every reason to believe they would move inexorably from the back rows of American politics to the front. There are some 8,000 elected officials in the United States at the state and federal levels. Between 2009, when Barack Obama took office, and today, as he prepares to retire from it, more than 1,100 Democratic elected officials lost their jobs to Republicans. That number is unprecedented.

From Howie Carr of the Boston Herald:
On fake news “60 Minutes” tonight, Obama will make this incredible statement:
“I’m proud of the fact that with two weeks to go, we’re probably the first administration in modern history that hasn’t had a major scandal in the White House.”
Can someone say Big Lie? There’s not room enough in this whole newspaper to list all the scandals, big and small, that have enveloped this most corrupt of all regimes in American history, modern or otherwise.
One website last week came up with 633, and they missed more than a few!
Just for starters, Hillary Clinton is probably beseeching him right now for a pardon, given the crimes she committed as his highest-ranking Cabinet official. Ya think Hillary’s a little concerned now about the deplorables?
Here are a few others Obama and his courtiers have apparently forgotten:
- Benghazi, and the video lie.
- Fast and Furious, the assault-rifle-running scheme to Mexican drug cartels that left at least two Americans dead.
- “If you like your doctor … .”
- Congress allowed to exempt itself from Obamacare.
- Cash for Clunkers.
- Shovel-ready jobs that weren’t.
We saved the best for last. Here are a few choice words from – of all critics — Louis Farrakhan, as quoted in ZeroHedge:
But I just want to tell you, Mr. President, you’re from Chicago, and so am I. I go out in the streets with the people. I visited the worst neighborhoods. I talked to the gangs. And while I was out there talking to them, they said ‘You know, Farrakhan, the president ain’t never come. Could you get him to come and look after us?’ There’s your legacy, Mr. President. It’s in the streets with your suffering people, Mr. President. And If you can’t go and see about them, then don’t worry about your legacy ’cause the white people that you served so well, they’ll preserve your legacy.
So, bye-bye Barry. It would have been nice to say we’re glad we knew you. But that would be a lie, too.
