The drama surrounding House Republicans’ struggles to elect a new speaker overshadowed the Biden family investigations for a couple of weeks. However, plenty of information is still coming to light about Joe Biden’s involvement in apparent bribery and pay-to-play schemes run by his son and his brother, who were both using the Biden “brand” to line the family pockets.
Over in the Senate, Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has been working to get answers from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI after finding out that the bureau was managing more than 40 confidential human sources (CHSs) relating to potentially criminal activity involving the Bidens.
In a letter dated Oct. 24 and addressed to both Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray, Grassley said these sources “provided criminal information relating to Joe Biden, James Biden, and Hunter Biden.” Referring to a previous letter, the senator goes on to describe “whistleblower allegations that the FBI developed information in 2020 about Hunter Biden’s criminal financial and related activity but ultimately shut it down based on false assertions that it was subject to foreign disinformation.”
Running Cover for the Biden Family?
Russian disinformation has been the go-to cover story, it seems, for anything relating to the Biden family business dealings. Recall the letter, signed by 51 current and former Intelligence Community officials, that claimed the Hunter Biden laptop story was a Russian plot?
It is painfully ironic that the DOJ and FBI would decide allegations of criminal activity should not be taken seriously because they were likely Russian disinformation. The bureau had no doubts about investigating former President Donald Trump based largely on the infamous “Steele dossier,” which was mostly comprised of actual Russian disinformation.

Several federal government whistleblowers have testified that the FBI – specifically, the Washington, DC, field office – made great efforts to shut down these confidential human sources by discrediting them with the claim that the intelligence they were providing was foreign disinformation.
Claims by Democrats in Congress, the White House, and a decidedly partisan establishment media that Republicans have “no evidence” of wrongdoing are, at this point, pushing the bounds of credulity. House and Senate investigators have, between them, put forth a vast amount of evidence that shows the Biden family profiting handsomely off Joe Biden’s political influence. What the Grassley memo now contends is that the FBI and the wider DOJ have fiercely hampered the progress of any serious probe into what the Bidens were doing. Both Garland and Wray vehemently deny that politics have played any part in their decision-making, but the evidence suggests otherwise.
It took just a little gossip, a few media reports, and a collection of memos put together by a former British spy who hated Trump to persuade the FBI to open a full investigation into now-debunked claims he was colluding with the Russians in 2016. Contrast that with the agency’s reluctance to take seriously the enormous weight of incriminating information pointing to Biden family corruption. While no one wants to believe that certain high-ranking members of the premier law enforcement agency in the US are actively working to protect the Biden family, it is becoming increasingly difficult to dismiss that suspicion.
