Editor’s Note: From the Back Forty is Liberty Nation’s longest running and most popular weekly column.
There was a tingle in the air as flyover folks gathered to enjoy fellowship in anticipation of Christmas festivities. It didn’t last, however, as idle chatter turned to Hunter Biden, Wikipedia, and Harvard in the news and all across the social media platforms. But the real mood-altering event occurred in the US Senate room SD-G50, where folks gather to testify in front of the esteemed body of lawmakers. And tongues set loose after a pint or two couldn’t believe what they saw and heard.
Another Hidin’ Biden
The First son, in all the righteous indignation he could muster, dodged a subpoena and held a presser for his daddy, a.k.a The Big Guy, professing no foul play – just bullies wearing the conservative mantle picking on the addict. Well, he angered some folks in Congress who needed the first son to show face and testify, earning for himself the unenviable charge of contempt of Congress. Proceedings have been initiated by House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) and Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH).
Of course, the news angered many who have been told by the Biden Bunch that “no one is above the law.” And one gal in Michigan was fired up: Judy Crimando. “This pathetic little man! What a disgrace to his family and this great nation. He is the only one responsible for his crimes. No one else.” Judy was on a roll, adding: “Big crybaby. Even the sound of his voice is wimpy.”
Note to self: Do not make Judy Crimando mad.
The Wacky Wiki World
Most conservatives scoff when some leftist quotes Wikipedia as a source in political debate. So much so that a son of Chicago, Victor J. Maggio, just labeled the site “Commi-pedia” for altering or, let’s say, dumbing down content in a process called “due weight.” That was the process that took place on Harvard President Claudine Gay’s Wiki profile after her disastrous testimony about antisemitism on the Harvard Campus.
But her main problem was that Gay was a prominent name in the news now, and all sorts of folks had to look up and measure stats and status for being named an Ivy League grand poohbah in the first place. As Liberty Nation Editor-in-Chief Leesa K. Donner penned, “A report by Christopher F. Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, and Christopher Brunet of The American Conservative published an article questioning her academic credentials. Their claim – which included examples – is that the Harvard president committed the cardinal sin of authors and plagiarized parts of her Ph.D. dissertation.”
Yikes! Hurry and update Wikipedia. Oh, that happened, but not as one would expect. Editor “Innisfree987” used the “due weight” nonsense, relegating the allegations to the bottom of the page and glossing over several reliable sources. The self-help page for wannabe editors states: “Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published sources, making sure that all majority and significant minority views that have appeared in those sources are covered.”
That’s quite the accomplishment for good ol’ Claudine Gay, bringing down Harvard and Wiki alike with one careless remark about calls for the genocide of Jewish students on campus.
Craig Barrows in Natchez, MS, was probably shaking his head as he typed: “That place is too far gone. Her resignation is pointless. Can only imagine if it was a Conservative President accused of fraud, but then again, they wouldn’t have a job at an Ivy League University.”
US Senate Sex Tapes
News leaked out from a private group for gay men in politics, and it now takes a rightful place beside former President Bill Clinton’s Oval Office scandals. A video has surfaced of a congressional staffer working for Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) – who has since been fired, of course – having a naked romp with another man in the hallowed halls of the United States Senate, on the table where senators sit to ask questions.
Conservative activist Laura Loomer went to X to spill the details: “I can exclusively confirm that the Senator whose staffer was caught filming a gay sex tape in the Senate Hearing Room is Democrat Senator Ben Cardin.” Can you imagine the uproar? You don’t have to; it’s all over social media.
“Hmmm. This makes the Jan 6 guy who put his feet up on the desk look like such a novice at disrespect,” said Janice Fedde Dutton. And Robert Norris in Owensboro, KY, seemed mostly defeated: “Just like the rest of Joe Biden’s America.”
